Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Charles Freret, the following fax was sent by the Vice President of TurboTax.  If you are a taxpayer that has used Turbotax and filed with a 1099R for tax years 2007, 2008 or 2009, you should contact Mr. Meighan via fax at 858-408-2714

Are you going to pay the non-penalty amounts owed due to your software’s errors?

  • R&G Brenner

I am currently unaware of any miscalculations in the software that R&G Brenner uses Tom. However, if there is a calculation error in our corporate software that causes the taxpayer an unnecessary additional expense, we would reimburse you those penalties.

Turbo tax miscalculated and made an error on tax return for 2008 taxable refunds. The tax refund was entered correctly but according to Turbo Tax there was a recovery and therefore the state income refund was zero on the return. IRS has subsequently sent notification that state tax refund was wrong. Is Turbo Tax aware of this and if so why are these errors not communicated to users of the software.

It is unfortunate that they have not notified you of an issue if they were aware of it. You should contact customer service at Turbo Tax and ask them why they have not had communication with their customers.

If you are concerned about other filings you can bring the last 3 years tax returns into any R&G Brenner office and we will review them for accuracy at No Charge.
